Shim Mi(they/them) is a queer, Japanese-Korean creative residing in Brooklyn, NY.
Their craft, Ohayo Pokes(oh-hī-yoh), is named after their appreciation for mornings and brings that same quiet, tenderness into their tattoo sessions. Shim Mi works toward understanding the human body and how tattooing has been a large part of human connection with each other and ourselves.
Outside of tattooing, Shim Mi spends their time training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Coming from a wrestling background, they enjoy the technical skills that allow smaller people to find control in uncomfortable situations.
Now working at a queer/AAPI ran studio Long Time Tattoo, in Brooklyn, they strive honor their clients’ truths, community and body autonomy.
