What is a handpoked tattooing?
It is an archaic method of depositing ink to the second layer of the skin. Individual dots are formed to create an overall tattoo design. Where machines have a motor moving the needle up and down into the skin, the hand is manually poking the skin to deposit the ink.
What's the difference between flash and custom?
Flash are pre-drawn designs by me that are ready-to-be-tattooed.
All flash designs are repeatable until I retire them(usually after I’ve completed them 3 times).
Customs are ideas that clients bring to me and we work together to create a design that brings their vision to life.
How much do you charge?
I have a $250 minimum for flash and $300 for custom. I charge $150/hour for flash and $170/hour for custom.
I don’t charge for the beginning or end of the appointment (check in, printing the design, placing the stencil, bandaging, checking out, breaksetc). The hourly rate will start whenever we begin the actual tattoo portion of your appointment.
What is sliding scale?
The essential idea behind sliding scale is that you are paying based on your access to resources and financial privilege. Sliding scale works on an honor system — I trust you to be honest about where you fall on the scale, no questions asked.
- Pay on the HIGHER END of the scale if: you have access to financial security, or have personal savings. You are able to comfortably meet all of your basic needs.
- Pay in the MIDDLE of the scale if: you’re trying to build savings, conquer debt, or move away from paycheck-to-paycheck living, but have access to steady income and are not spending most of your time thinking about meeting basic needs.
- Pay on the LOWER END of the scale if: you have no access to savings, struggle to maintain access to basic needs (ex. healthcare, housing, food, child care). You might be in significant debt.
Here is an infographic that depicts sliding scale, if it is helpful!
Sliding scale I offer
Sliding scale: $120-150/hr for flash
Sliding scale: $130-170 for custom
How long do appointments last?
Most of my appointments last 2.5-4 hours, but if I know it will take significantly longer or shorter I will do my best to let you know ahead of time. Please plan accordingly :-)
Why is the deposit non-refundable?
This keeps both of us accountable to be present and engaged throughout the process. Cancellations are bound to happen, but the deposit secures your appointment and the time I set aside to tattoo you.
This is my first tattoo, how should I best prepare?
Make sure to be super hydrated and eat a big meal beforehand. It’ll help significantly on both ends. Your skin won’t get as irritated and it won’t hurt as much. Be sure to wear proper attire. For example, if you know you want the tattoo on your leg, wear a pair of shorts. Know that it’s okay to be nervous!! I’m here to help guide you through the process and can answer any questions you may have before we start.
Do you have a cancel/rescheduling policy?
If you need to cancel, please let me know as soon as you can. I understand things come up, and am very forgiving. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to send a deposit back to you but I am open to rescheduling you for a later date.
